During this holiday, my family and I went to Binglang Valley(槟榔谷). There, I saw an old grandma with white hair sitting on the ground weaving cloth. The tools in front of her looked very old. Several ropes held colourful threads. This is the Li nationality's skill—a world's intangible cultural heritage. The cloth had beautiful patterns, including small animals and different shapes. Grandma said these patterns show the Li people's love for nature.
I also tried rattan(藤) and bamboo weaving. An old woman taught me to weave a small basket. It looked easy, but they were not simple to do. She told us that rattan and bamboo weaving is a traditional skill of the Miao people. They can make strong and beautiful daily things with rattan and bamboo from the mountains.
We also saw many wonderful works of Li Brocade(黎锦), such as handbags, dresses and necklaces. They are colourful and beautiful. I even wore the traditional clothes of the Li and Miao people and took many nice photos.
In the afternoon, we watched a show by Li and Miao people. The young men and women wore beautiful national clothes and danced happily. I couldn't help joining them. A Miao young man also taught us to blow leaves. A common leaf could make beautiful sounds. How amazing!
