The Great Pyramid(金字塔) of Giza in Egypt might be the most famous building in the world. We know exactly when it was built. This pyramid was built over 4,500 years ago and for centuries, people had wondered who built it. At one time, people believed that the aliens from outer space had a hand in its building, while others believed slaves(奴隶) were forced to build it. After years of wondering, people finally have found out the truth.
The Egyptian ruler Khufu ordered the building of the pyramid. It was built as his burial place. In the end, the pyramid was about 146 meters tall and 230 meters wide. Around 2.3 million stones were used to build it. While it used to be believed that this pyramid was built by slaves or other life forms, historians now know that this pyramid was actually built by 20,000 workers from all over the country. This knowledge was completely unknown until a tourist's horse slipped(滑倒) by accident and found a hidden city deep in the desert sands.
After the horse slipped, historians went on to unearth the city where the workers lived, worked, and died. There were stores, work places, streets and city walls. These discoveries showed that the builders of the pyramid were not slaves or aliens, and it finally answered the question of who built the Great Pyramid of Giza.
