主题:礼仪礼貌 体裁:记叙文 难度:★★★ 建议用时:7分钟 正确率: /5
Chaii Stop is a café in Preston, England. It recently received much attention after its owner made a
new rule. The rule says that customers will pay different prices for desi chai, a kind of drink, according
to how polite they are at the time of placing their orders.
If customers come in and just say "desi chai", they will pay £5 for one cup. If they say "desi chai,
please", they'll get the drink for £3. Better still, if they say "Hello, desi chai, please", the drink will
only cost £1.9.
Usman Hussain, the owner of the shop, came up with the idea. As for why he made the rule, he
said, "I think it's a nice way to remind people to use their manners."
Hussain made a sign to tell customers the rule. And he has yet to ask someone to pay £5 for the
drink. "If one doesn't use his manners, I'll point to the sign, and he'll quickly ask again more politely,"
said Hussain.
"A lot of people can be quite rude in the morning while they're waking up. But the sign
makes them think when they see it. And at the end of the day, you never know what someone is going
through to make them act rudely. This sign may help them drop their guard," Hussain added.

主题:志愿服务 体裁:说明文 难度:★★★★ 建议用时:8分钟 正确率: /5
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容回答问题。
Worldwide, 8.1 million people are waiting for calls from strangers. Some of them consider
themselves introverts. Some say they hate talking on the phone. But as volunteers for Be My
Eyes, they all have a kind heart.
Be My Eyes was created in 2015 by Hans Jorgen Wiberg from Denmark. This free app connects
blind people with sighted volunteers through video calls for help with everyday tasks. Wiberg used to
worry about finding enough volunteers. But today volunteers outnumber blind users by ten to one.
It's not easy for volunteers to get a call. Zhang Yanfei joined Be My Eyes in 2019 but didn't receive
her first call until four years later. Calls go out to many volunteers at the same time. If one doesn't
respond immediately, another volunteer will take the call.
He Yanyan, a stage actress, hesitated to join at first. She feared missing calls during rehearsals. After learning that other volunteers would cover missed calls, she signed up at once. She received
her first call the very next day. A young man nervously asked, "Can this app really help?" Feeling
nervous herself, she realized the man was also new to the platform. She described the objects around
him. The caller relaxed and asked if he looked tidy. After she told him that his clothes were spotless,
the conversation continued for a few more rounds and came to a close.
Cao Zhenxiang was also nervous during his first call. After he helped an elderly man check the
expiration date on his bread, the two thanked each other repeatedly. "I was so nervous that I
didn't even know why I was thanking him," he said.
Now, Cao feels much more confident. He recently helped a blind person cross the street while
working on his computer. "It just felt like chatting with a friend," he said.
1. Who can get help through Be My Eyes?
Blind people.

2. As a volunteer, when did Zhang Yanfei get her first call?
Four years after joining./In 2023.

3. Why did He Yanyan hesitate to join at first?
Because she feared missing calls during rehearsals.

4. What did Cao Zhenxiang help the caller do during his first call?
He helped check the expiration date on bread.

5. What can you learn from the volunteers?
We can learn that helping others can start with small acts of kindness in daily life.(言之有理即可)

答案

1. Blind people.
2. Four years after joining./In 2023.
