Robert Louis Stevenson was a writer
from the UK. Treasure Island is one of his
most famous books. It came out in 1883.
In this book,the main character is a boy
called Jim Hawkins. He lives near the sea in
England. Jim meets an old seaman called Billy
Bones. He has a map showing the location of
Captain Flint's treasures on an island far
away. After Bones dies,Jim finds the map. He
takes a ship to the island with Squire
Trelawney,Dr Livesey and Captain Smollett.
Jim finds out that there are pirates among the people on the ship. A one-legged
man named Long John Silver leads them. He
is the ship's cook. The pirates try to take Jim
and his friends from the ship. After many
adventures,they find the treasures. Jim and
his friends go back to England as rich men.
But Long John Silver runs away with some of
the gold.
Though Robert Louis Stevenson wrote
the book more than a hundred years ago,
Treasure Island is still a popular book. Both
children and adults enjoy this exciting adventure
story.
