When it comes to mysteries, many people will think of the Bermuda Triangle. As one of the best-known mysteries of the modern age, this triangular-shaped area in the North Atlantic Ocean has interested a lot of people. But do you know there is a place in China called the “Bermuda Triangle on Land”? It is the Paddle Maze (Mihundang).
The Paddle Maze is located in Wawu Mountain in Hongya County, Meishan City. Wawu Mountain covers a large area and is home to lots of wild plants and animals. People used to look for herbs(药草) in the mountain, and some entered the Paddle Maze by accident. Those often lost their way and some even disappeared. Compasses and watches could be out of order in the area. Even GPS fails to work there. As a result, people stay away from this area, and the local government doesn’t allow visitors to enter the mysterious place.
As for the strange things that have happened in this area, people have lots of guesses. Some people believe that these things were caused by toxic(有毒的) gas in the forest. Others say that the chaotic(混乱的) magnetic field makes it hard for people to find the direction. But there is no strong evidence(根据) for what has happened there.
Although experts have made big efforts to find out the secrets of the Paddle Maze, many things about it remain a mystery. What do you think of the Paddle Maze?
