2026年练习部分九年级英语上册沪教版五四制第26页答案
3 Read the feature story from a magazine. 阅读杂志上的专题报道。
(1)

Have you watched the documentary Masters in the Forbidden City? It follows ordinary yet extraordinary people who spend their days fixing China’s old treasures. One of them is Wang Jin, a clock restorer at the Palace Museum. He has spent decades making broken clocks work again.

(2)

Wang Jin was born in 1961 and started working at the Palace Museum in 1977 when he was 16. He fixes clocks from the Ming and Qing dynasties — many came from Europe long ago. Throughout his career, he has brought over 300 broken clocks back to life, allowing people to see how amazing they are.
(3)

He began as a young learner under Master Ma Yuliang. At first, he only cleaned small parts and watched carefully. The clocks were very hard to understand because they had hundreds of tiny pieces. But with time and practice, he learned how they work. Mastering these basics helped him become an expert.
(4)

His hard work and love for his job have earned him great respect. In 2018, he was named a National Representative Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage, a top honour for people who protect traditional skills in China. He also helps train others and shares what he knows at the museum.
(5)

Wang Jin lives by a simple but powerful idea: “Choose one thing and stick to it for a lifetime.” Even after retirement, he still comes to the workshop every day. His calm spirit and lifelong dedication (奉献) show us that ordinary people can do extraordinary things — if they just keep going with heart.
