Rivers are very important for people and nature. Many big cities are next to rivers. Almost every country has a river. Rivers play an important part in the lives of people.
For a very long time, people used rivers to move things and travel. The longest river in the United States is the Mississippi. The most important river in Egypt is the Nile. But there is a problem. Big cities and factories are often near rivers. When cities get bigger and there are more factories, the river water can get dirty. Bad things like chemicals go into the water.
People are learning that they must keep rivers clean. If rivers are clean, people can keep using them and getting all the good things from them. Rivers are very important natural things we need to take care of.
