The polar bear（北极熊）is a kind of big and white bear. We call it the polar bear because it lives inside the Arctic Circle（北极圈）. There are no polar bears in the Antarctic Circle（南极圈）.
In the Arctic Circle, there is only snow, ice and water. You can hardly（几乎不）see the polar bear in the snow because its coat is nearly white. It has a very warm coat because the weather is cold there.
Usually, the polar bear is about 3 metres long, and weighs about 450 kilograms. It can stand up on its back legs because it has very wide feet. It can use its front legs like arms. The polar bear can swim very well. It can swim 10 km/h. It catches fish and other sea animals for food. It goes into the sea when it is afraid.
Some people kill the polar bear for its beautiful white coat, and the climate change also destroy their living environment（生存环境）. Now more and more people are calling for protection of polar bear. They do not want all of these beautiful animals to die.
