The salmon（大马哈鱼） is a very strange fish. It was born in the river. But the young salmon swims down the rivers towards the Pacific Ocean. And it lives in the sea and becomes full grown. Then it returns to the river where it was born.
A grown-up salmon weighs about 3.5 kilograms. The female（雌性）salmon will not spawn（产卵） in the Pacific Ocean. When it is almost time to lay them, both male（雄性） and female salmon begin a long journey.
