Ⅴ.阅读理解。
Before losing herself in writing Chinese calligraphy for hours,Ma Huiyan always makes a cup of tea using a beautiful tea set. She says it's the perfect way to relax after a busy week. Ma,an office worker in Shanghai, remains her childhood love for this art. Though she also enjoys playing the violin or painting, calligraphy is where she finds inner peace(内心平静)."Focusing on every stroke clears my mind. Finishing a piece gives me great pride," she says.
"At a time when people use a computer keyboard for writing, the ancient Chinese art of writing with a history of several thousand years still leaves a lasting mark on people's lives," Fang Jianxun,a calligraphy researcher, says. Fang opened a calligraphy course at a university in 2019. "Writing calligraphy is not for practical use. The movements of the brush on paper are like a dance performance. The process has a perfect match of one's hand and mind," says Fang. He points out people can learn calligraphy at any age.
For Zhou Jinsheng, writing calligraphy is more like a sports activity. The 75-year-old man has been writing on the ground with a brush in parks for 10 years. He needs just a 1-metre-long brush and water. When the weather is good,he goes to a park and writes on the ground. "Writing on the ground is very environmentally friendly. Every time I finish my practice,I feel like finishing a set of tai chi exercises," says Zhou.
Calligraphy's timeless charm remains strong even in the modern age. When most people type on keyboards, this ancient art helps modern hearts find peace.
