一、阅读理解
Do you know how to communicate with people who are experiencing bad emotions? Sixteen years ago, I learned an important lesson from a taxi driver.
That day, I was in a taxi. We were driving on the right lane(车道)when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out. My taxi driver stepped on his brake(刹车)and the taxi made a very loud noise. Although our car stopped just in time, I was scared. But then the driver of the black car, who almost caused a big accident, started shouting rude words at us. What surprised me more was that my taxi driver just smiled and waved at the man kindly. I asked him why.
He explained that many people ran around with anger, so they were like garbage trucks. As their garbage piled up, they needed a place to throw it away. When someone wanted to throw it at you, you had better not take it seriously. Instead, you could choose to just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You would be happier because of what you did.
That really got me thinking: How often do I let garbage trucks run right over me? And how often do I then take their garbage and throw it onto other people — at work, at home or in the street? It was on that day that I made a decision, “I’m not going to do it anymore.”
Since then, whenever I see “garbage trucks”, I just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
