Hi! I'm an ant, one of the tiniest animals in the ecosystem.
I live with my big family in a place like a small city, but we never get lost. I have 12,000 sisters and we have the same Mum, the queen ant. But I don't have many brothers. One day, I found a seed (种子). I left a scent trail (气味踪迹). Soon, my sisters came to help carry the food home. That's how we talk—through smells!
Mum says we play an important part in making the earth a better place. We move in the soil (土壤) and eat dead leaves. This makes the soil better for plants. Sometimes, we drop seeds to a new place. Then new plants grow! We are the food of birds and lizards. Without us, the soil would be dry, and many animals would be hungry.
★ The number of us is getting smaller and smaller. People use spray (喷剂) to kill bad bugs (害虫), but this also makes it hard for us to live. Big machines dig the earth and break our nests. Also, the weather is changing. If it's too hot or rainy, we can't find food.
