A
Mount Qomolangma, standing at 8,848.86 metres, is the highest mountain in the world. Climbing it is a dream for many, but it's also full of dangers.
Before 1960, no Chinese team had ever reached its top. However, on 25 May, 1960, a group of brave Chinese climbers made history. They faced terrible conditions: Temperatures dropped to -30 ℃, and the air was so thin that breathing was difficult. Bit by bit, they pulled themselves up. Finally, they stood on the peak, making China the first country to conquer Mount Qomolangma from the northern side.
In 1975, another Chinese team climbed it again. They brought a "Chinese Ladder" to the Second Step, a challenging part 8,700 metres above sea level. Until 2007, most climbers from the north used this ladder to reach the top faster.
Why do people risk their lives to climb Mount Qomolangma? As the English explorer George Mallory said, "Because it's there." This shows human curiosity and ambition never stop.

11. 定位原文第一段第一句“Mount Qomolangma, standing at 8,848.86 metres, is the highest mountain in the world”,直接明确给出珠峰高度为8848.86米,对应选项B。
A选项:原文明确1960年中国登山队就首次登顶珠峰,并非1975年,表述错误;
B选项:原文说明“直到2007年,大部分从北坡攀登的登山者都使用这架梯子”,并非2007年之后才使用,表述错误;
C选项:原文开篇就提到攀登珠峰充满危险,后续也提到低温、空气稀薄等恶劣条件,说明攀登珠峰充满挑战,表述正确;
