Ⅲ.读写题(15分)
第一节 阅读短文,根据语篇内容,在方框内的缩写文章中,填入与短文意思最符合的单词,每空一词。(6分)
When your friend invites you to have dinner with his family in their home, you're excited about going. But you're a little nervous about it too. The customs in your country are very different from theirs. If you follow a few rules of their dinner parties, you will have a good time at the party.
It's a good idea to bring a small gift when you go to a dinner party. Flowers are always nice, or you might bring a bottle of wine if you know that the family drink it.
You should arrive on time or five to ten minutes late. Don't get there early. If you are more than fifteen minutes late, you should call and tell them.
Try to be free at the dinner table. If you don't know about choosing the correct fork, knife, or spoon, just watch the other people and follow them. If you still have no idea of what to do, be polite about asking the person next to you. It's better to ask than to be silently uncomfortable and nervous.
If you like the food, say so. Of course, you'll thank the host and hostess for the meal and for their kindness. It is also a good idea to send a card or thank-you note the day after.
