Thanks for your letter. I’ve been in Beijing for two months, and I’m gradually getting used to life here. Let me share some experiences with you.
First, language learning is challenging but interesting. At first, I could only say simple words like "nihao" and "xiexie". Now, I can have short conversations with my classmates. My Chinese teacher is very patient, and she often uses games to make classes fun. I even joined a Chinese calligraphy club to practice writing characters.
Second, the food here is amazing! I love trying different dishes. My favorite is dumplings, especially those with pork and cabbage filling. My host family cooks delicious meals for me. They taught me how to use chopsticks, which was hard at first, but now I can use them well. I also tried Peking duck last week—it was so tasty!
About life礼节, there are some differences. For example, people usually greet each other by shaking hands instead of kissing cheeks. When visiting someone’s home, it’s polite to bring a small gift, like fruit. My host parents are very kind, and they always help me when I have problems.
