Because you are new to making paper-cuts, it’s best to start with simple shapes. Once you build your confidence (信心), you can create paper-cuts as you like. We know paper-cutting is a relaxing craft. By doing this, you can slow down and take your time. So you can start it ______ .
Step 1 For a basic paper-cut, you’ll first need to start with your design. You can draw this by using a pencil, or you can use a printed template (模板).
Step 2 Place your paper on top of a craft mat (垫子). You should always cut on a craft mat to prevent injury (受伤) and to protect the surface of your table. Or you can easily cut yourself and break the tabletop if you don’t use a mat.
Step 3 Start cutting out your design. Go slowly, watch your hands and fingers and bring the knife or scissors towards you.
Step 4 When you finish, pick up your design and lay it flat on your backing paper to see
if you forget to cut anything out. If you do, go back and complete your paper-cutting.
