Mr Green came to his son’s bed and sat down. Looking at that little sad face, he asked, “Tom, what kind of day did you have today?”
“It was a bad day for me, Daddy,” Tom answered. “I had a fight with David. We made our teacher angry. She sent a phone message about me to Mum. And I said bad words to Mum. She is angry too. I am so sorry, Daddy.”
“I know. So part of the day was bad,” said Mr Green. “And tell me a good thing today.”
Tom thought for a minute and laughed. “After school I went fishing,” he said. “I didn’t think I would have any luck. But I did. I caught a fish!”
“I’m happy that you caught a fish. You had a good time after school,” said Mr Green. “Try to think about it, and you’ll have a good dream. I hope I will see a happy boy tomorrow. Good night!”
Since then, Tom always tries to find a good thing before bedtime. Sometimes it is only a very small thing. This is a good way Tom’s father taught him to end his day. Of course it is very helpful for him to have a good sleep.
