Growing up is a journey full of lessons and growth. Every person has their own growing-up stories, and these stories shape who we are. Here are two stories from Grade 8 students about their growing-up experiences.
Lucas used to be a very selfish(自私的) boy. He only thought about himself and never cared about others. One day, his little brother fell ill and needed to stay in bed. His mother was very busy taking care of his brother, so she asked Lucas to help with housework. At first, Lucas was unwilling(不情愿的), but when he saw how tired his mother was, he changed his mind. He helped clean the house, wash the dishes and take care of his brother. From this experience, Lucas learned to be kind and responsible. He realized that growing up means thinking about others.
Emma used to be afraid of making mistakes. She always refused to try new things because she was worried about failing. Her art teacher noticed this and asked her to join the school art club. At first, Emma was nervous and made many mistakes. But her teacher and classmates encouraged her to keep trying. Gradually, Emma became more confident and started to enjoy drawing. She learned that making mistakes is part of growing up and that we can learn from our mistakes.
