On January 18, 2025, the Xichang Qionghai Sunshine Cup National Youth Soccer Invitational Tournament (锦标赛) began in Xichang, Sichuan Province. This 1 event lasted from January 18 to 23.
About 1,200 young soccer players 2 all over China came to join in the tournament. They would play in 510 3 to win first, second, and third places in different age groups and skill levels. There were also special prizes for the 4 players.
The tournament was organized by three groups: the Sichuan Football Association, the Sichuan Sports Industry Group, 5 the Liangshan Culture and Tourism Investment Group.
Why was this tournament important? A representative (代表) said, “We don’t just train young players. We also use matches as a way to improve soccer 6 in our area. By hosting good tournaments, we can bring talented players and new ideas to Liangshan.”
This helped train better coaches and referees and created 7 exciting soccer atmosphere (氛围). The tournament also 8 Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture’s effort to connect culture and tourism with sports.
