2026年学霸甘肃少年儿童出版社九年级英语下册译林版第18页答案
新素材 旧车厢里的教学 Inside an old railway carriage, primary school students are cooking up a Mexican-inspired dish with vegetables freshly picked from their own kitchen garden.
The years 5 and 6 students are from the Aldavilla Public School, west of Kempsey, which runs a kitchen garden programme with a unique cooking space in an old Sydney railway carriage.
The outside of the old train carriage has a sign saying “Aldavilla Station”. The Aldavilla Station programme was created after the school received a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation grant(拨款).
For the past years, the Aldavilla Kitchen Garden has taught kids about the benefits of cooking and eating a variety of foods that they have grown themselves. The kitchen garden coordinator Gaye Dufty has been a driving force behind the Aldavilla Station programme. “It is a great change from classroom learning. The kids really love it ... it’s great life skills for them,” Ms Dufty said.
According to Ms Dufty, the old railway carriage was at first used as a resource centre at the school and then was turned into a cooking and eating space in 2011. The programme has been highly popular with students and is also supported by community volunteers who help the children prepare and cook meals. So far more than 50 volunteers have taken part.
Ms Dufty is now preparing to retire and is training her successor—professional chef Craig
