The UN is an important international organization. October 24th, 2026 is its 81st birthday!

It works hard to keep world peace, help poor people, and protect everyone's basic human rights. For example, in 2007, Chinese soldiers(军人) went to Sudan, Africa, to help keep peace during a big war. They are called United Nations Peacekeeping Force(维和部队).

The UN uses six official languages: Arabic(阿拉伯语), Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

The UN is open to all "peace-loving states(国家)". At first, only 51 countries joined the UN. Now, it has 193 member states. South Sudan joined on July 14, 2011. It is the last member state now. Every member state must pay money to the UN, but each country pays a different amount of money.
Today, the UN still faces big challenges like wars, poverty(贫困) and climate change. It calls on all countries to work together for a better world.
