On 25 September,2023, something went wrong with Mr Smith while he was playing basketball with students.“He threw us the ball, but then he fell back and hit the ground,” said one student called David.
Charlie, who was giving a class in a nearby classroom, was the first to arrive.“I heard shouting and saw kids running down the hall,” Charlie said.“Some students came into my room, saying ‘Something happened and he passed out (昏迷).’”

However, the teachers and students followed Amy and tried their best to practise CPR.Thanks to the students and teachers, Mr Smith was saved after 21 minutes’ CPR. Mr Smith didn’t remember the week before or after his accident—just waking up in the hospital.
“Thank so many people for not giving up on me,” he said.“Even when it gets hard, don’t give up. That’s the lesson here,” Mr Smith said. That day changed the lives of everyone here.“It made us learn a truth about life,” one student said.
