Amazing new technology (技术) helps some blind (失明的) people read again! Scientists have developed a microchip (微芯片). Doctors put it into a patient’s (患者的) eye.
The patient then wears a pair of special glasses with a video camera (摄像机). It sends pictures to the chip in the eye. There is a small processor (处理器). The patient can hang it on his or her waist. It makes the pictures clearer. *Then the processor sends them to the brain through the chip and the optic nerve.
Over time, the patients learn to understand the pictures. At first, they read just a few letters each time. One patient is Sheila Irvine. Now she can read books again! This new technology makes her life much better!
