Mary sees her mum and dad spend money on clothes and food. She thinks it is funny.
“Money is only green paper. It’s easy to make money,” Mary thinks.
Mary colours some paper green with her pencils. Then she takes her “money” to Mr Wood’s toy store.
“I want to buy a toy,” Mary says. “Here is my money.”
“Oh, it’s not money. It is only green paper. You can’t buy things with green paper,” Mr Wood says.
Mary goes back home and asks her dad about money.
Dad smiles, “Money is a special kind of green paper. You have to work hard for it.”
“Can I work and make some money?” Mary asks.
“Yes,” says her dad. “Wash the car, and I will pay you.”
Now Mary knows what money is and how to make it.
