Elephants love to eat! Elephants spend nearly 12 to 16 hours a day eating. A large elephant can eat about 600 kg a day. They love eating apples, bananas, cabbage and sugarcane. They drink 200 L of water a day during the summer.
Females are the boss(首领). Elephant families have a female head. Their boss is a large old lady elephant. Usually there is a mother, her sisters, daughters and their babies in a family. They go from a group of 8 to nearly 100 elephants.
Elephants never forget. Elephants are good at remembering things, because they have the largest brains(大脑) of any land animal. They can remember places where food and water can be found. They can even tell the difference between the call of a friend and the call of an enemy(敌人).
