Artists in Shandong Province started making creations to welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year. Zuo Ansheng is a dough sculpture（面塑）artist from the Hongshizhai Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum in Yinan County, Linyi. He created a series of dragon sculptures to celebrate the New Year.
Donglijia Village in Xiazhuang Town, Shandong Province, was experiencing its busiest season as villagers were working overtime（加班）to produce red paper, and print couplets（对联）. Donglijia Village is famous for its red paper and couplet production. Over 60 percent of the villagers work in the red paper couplet production industry.
Folk artist Xie Yunxian became much busier making dough sculptures. Xie, a provincial-level inheritor of the Wanrong dough sculpture skills from Wanrong County, Shanxi Province, made a series of dough dragons, including one over 2 meters tall titled “Giant Dragon Welcoming Spring”.
Li Yinjie created several collections of beautiful paper cutting works based on the Year of the Dragon. She is a city-level inheritor of the Jishan paper cutting skills from Jishan County of Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. “I hope to express my wishes for our country to be more prosperous（繁荣的）and the people’s lives to be happier,” she said. Jishan paper cutting was listed as the city’s intangible cultural heritage in 2018.
