Eoin Colfer was born in Wexford, Ireland in 1965, where he and his four brothers lived with his father and mother. When he studied in primary school(小学), he loved history. He used the ideas from the history subject to write exciting Viking stories. To his surprise, all the teachers and students liked them. After that, he became interested in writing.

As well as the best-selling Artemis Fowl series, he has written the fantastic Legend of... stories about two naughty(淘气的) brothers, Will and Marty, and the sixth book of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
He says, "I will keep writing until people stop reading or I have no new ideas in writing. Hopefully neither of these will happen anytime soon."
