Rosie, a fox, liked to play tricks on the dog, Maddy. “Whenever I give them something to eat, Rosie often tries to take away her food with the dog’s biscuits,” said owner Richard Bowler. He took in Rosie after she got lost.
Rosie got to know Maddy slowly. “Maddy is always playful, and it’s a natural instinct(本能）for a baby dog to play. So they get on well,” Bowler said.
The pair liked to play indoors, especially in the living room. “Rosie likes to run along the top of the sofa and jump over the coffee table to meet Maddy,” Bowler said. “The room is usually messy(凌乱的).”
The pair’s owner even had to replace(更换）his sofa after Rosie tried to put a toy under the sofa. And when Rosie wasn’t playing with her friend, the pair would play with tennis balls together.
It was a strange friendship. Maddy’s parents were good at catching foxes. Nobody told this dog about it. She spent most of her time playing with Rosie in an outdoor vegetable garden. The two friends usually had a short sleep at noon. But they didn’t go to sleep before Maddy gave Rosie a “good-night” kiss.
