In the past, many cool inventions helped humans to live a better life. Now, let's have a look at some of them.
Compass
The earliest compass was invented during the Warring States Period. It looked like a spoon on a plate, on which 24 directions were marked. Due to magnetism(磁力)its handle(柄)would point south.
Seismograph
In the Eastern Han dynasty, Zhang Heng invented it to report earthquakes. When a quake took place, the ball inside the dragon mouth would drop into the mouth of the toad(蟾蜍)right under it. It was so smartly designed that only one dragon mouth would open while the rest seven remained shut.
Chinese Chime Bells
As a symbol of power, they were used for important ceremonies, starting 3,500 years ago. The bells were played by mallets(木槌)and created the sounds of seven musical scales(音阶), much like the piano. The most famous set was unearthed from Duke Zeng's tomb(曾侯乙墓)in Hubei Province.

快速对答案 1—5 C D A C B
根据“The earliest compass was invented during the Warring States Period. It looked like a spoon on a plate, on which 24 directions were marked.
根据“When a quake took place, the ball inside the dragon mouth would drop into the mouth of the toad right under it.
根据“The bells were played by mallets and created the sounds of seven musical scales, much like the piano.
