Have you seen baby butterflies? Probably not! Then how do the adult butterflies grow up? Butterflies, moths and some other insects were once caterpillars(毛毛虫). Caterpillars are born out of eggs. They usually eat tree leaves, but some of them also eat other caterpillars or small insects. The caterpillars eat a lot, so they are sometimes called “eating machines(机器)”. When caterpillars get old enough, they change their forms into adult butterflies or adult moths!
