Hello! I'm a carp(鲤鱼). I live in the Yellow River. The river was famous for its yellow water before. But these days, its water turns to be clear and blue-green. How does this happen?

The river's yellow came from sand and mud. The Yellow River starts on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. On its way to eastern China, it passes through the Loess Plateau(黄土高原). You could see a lot of loose soil and few plants there. When it rained, the soil easily went into the river. Then the water got yellow and muddy.
To solve this problem, people planted trees and grass all over the Loess Plateau. Trees and grass can hold the soil together. This helps stop soil from washing away, and makes the water clearer. People also built dams along the river to keep sand and mud there. Now, less mud gets into the Yellow River. That's why its water is clearer today!
