Huang Wenxiu is one of the role models for us. A TV series—The Daughter of the Mountain told us her story. It has received lots of praise from viewers online.
When Huang was in college, the idea of serving her hometown came to her. After graduating from Beijing Normal University, Huang returned to Baise, her hometown. She said, “I grew up in a mountainous area where quite a number of people live in poverty(贫穷). And all I wish is to do my part to change their lives.”
In 2018, Huang volunteered to be the first Party secretary stationed in Baini Village. But she soon discovered that her job was not easy. She had been concerned about the village development for a long time. It took her two months just to visit the 195 poor families in the village.
Huang encouraged villagers to plant oranges, and she helped them learn about how to sell their products online. Thanks to Huang's hard work, 418 villagers finally got out of poverty.
But sadly, on 16 June, 2019, Huang lost her life at the age of 30 because of a flash flood(暴洪). Though she passed away, the people there will never forget her.
