Dear Emily,
Thank you for your lovely letter. I'm so glad that you'd like to follow in my footsteps. Here are the answers to the questions you asked me.
I was born in England in 1821. My family moved to America when I was eleven. My father died six years later, and I had to go to work. So, I became a teacher. Teaching was one of the few jobs a woman could have at that time.
I decided to become a doctor in 1844, after visiting a dying friend. She told me that I was clever and that I should consider studying medicine. I reminded her that there were no women doctors in the United States. She
replied that she might not be dying if a woman doctor had treated her.
When I applied(申请) to medical schools, 28 of them turned me down. I had almost given up hope. But, at last, the Geneva Medical College, in New York, said yes.
Being the only woman in a class of 150 men was difficult. When I graduated in 1849, though, I was first in my class. I was also the first woman in the United States to get a medical degree.
I have one main purpose as a doctor. I want to teach women how to care for themselves and their children. I opened a hospital for them. It now includes a medical college for women. Maybe you'd like to apply to it someday.
I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Blackwell

A部分:
1. 定位信件最后一段“Maybe you'd like to apply to it someday”,可知Elizabeth建议Emily申请自己创办的女子医学院,推测Emily是学生,对应选项C。
1. 原文提到“I was also the first woman in the United States to get a medical degree”,故填woman doctor。
