Xi'an is a wonderful place for people who love rice and noodles, and every dish here has a story.
Lamb Paomo
It's a very traditional food. Tear flatbread into small pieces, and then put them in tasty lamb soup. You can eat it with little soup or much soup, just as you like.
Where to eat: Lao Sun Jia in the Muslim Quarter(回民街)—a century-old brand. Liuxin Paomo in the Sajinqiao area—a spicier taste.
Roujiamo
Juicy meat is in a crispy flatbread. It's simple, but you'll never forget it.
Where to eat: Laobai Roujiamo: Famous for its soft braised(炖熟的) pork filling. Ziwu Road Zhangji: Known for its crispy one with pieces of pork.
Cold noodles(Liangpi)
Perfect for summer! Cold noodles taste sour, spicy and chewy(耐嚼的), and they come in many styles.
Where to eat: Qin Town Mi Pi: Noodles made of rice with nice-smelling chili oil. Hanzhong Hot Liangpi: Served warm with local tofu mash.
Zenggao
Made of sticky rice, red dates, and red beans steamed(蒸) for hours. Sweet and comforting.
Where to eat: Pangzi Zenggao in the Sajinqiao area: Opens early and sells out fast!
