Do you know the "shore keeper"? In fact, it's not a job for people like the zookeeper. It is a job for a special kind of forest—the mangrove forest. In China, we call it hongshulin or the "red forest". Let's go into a mangrove forest to have a look.
Are the trees red? No, mangrove trees don't have red leaves or flowers. Their leaves are green. But they have special bark(树皮). People can use their bark to make red dyes(染料).

Mangrove forests grow near the sea. They can grow as high as 10 metres. They keep the land away from strong winds and waves.
Many birds live in the mangrove trees. Some parts of the roots grow out of the water. They are homes to snakes and lizards(蜥蜴). The other parts in the water make great homes for baby sea animals, like baby turtles and baby fish. They help the babies keep away from big animals.
Mangrove trees work hard quietly and help our planet a lot. But now many mangroves are in danger. We need to do more to protect them.
