二十四节气的现实意义
The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. They are still useful today to guide people's lives. Here are a few examples.
Grain Buds, the 8th solar term of a year, begins on May 21 in 2025, and ends on June 4. It indicates that the seeds in the grain are maturing. The summer harvest is just around the corner during Grain Buds. Increased rainfall leads to higher water levels in rivers.
Frost's Descent, the 18th solar term of the year, is the last solar term of autumn, during which the weather becomes much colder than before and frost begins to appear. Apples are a popular fruit during Frost's Descent. It is said that eating an apple after meals can benefit one's health.
Minor Cold is the 23rd solar term. For most areas of China, it marks the start of the coldest days of the year and people always start preparing for the Spring Festival. People traditionally eat foods considered to have yang energy to help ward off the cold. Another important traditional food for Minor Cold is Laba porridge.
