Something fun happened in Amherst, Canada. People elected (选举) a dog called Mr Bear as the town's first pet mayor (镇长). The Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter (收容所) ran the election.
Nine dogs and a cat named Meowstache took part in the election. People paid about £2.70 to vote. The shelter got the money. It used the money to help the animals there.
Each pet had its own election promises (承诺) like better dog parks and snack machines (零食自动贩卖机) all around the town.
Mr Bear won the election! He sat in the real mayor's chair at the town hall (大厅) that day.
