Ⅳ.任务型阅读
Have you ever seen a plant that eats insects? Meet the Venus flytrap(捕蝇草)! It's the fastest plant in the world that eats meat! This green plant catches insects in just 0.05 seconds—faster than you can blink. Its leaves look like heart-shaped traps(陷阱).
The trap's inside is bright red, like a juicy fruit or a colourful sign that says, "Come to eat here!" This colour attracts insects. But the real magic is in the tiny hairs on the leaves. They act as an alarm system(预
警系统). For the trap to close, an insect must touch two hairs (or the same hair twice) within 20 seconds. If not, the trap stays open to save energy. Once closed, the leaves lock together. Then, the plant starts to "eat". It releases(释放) special juices that break down the insect, just like how our stomachs work. This process takes 5 to 12 days—about as long as a school week! Each leaf can only catch 3 or 4 bugs in its life before it dies, so every catch is important!
Venus flytraps live in wet and nutrient-poor soil where they can't get enough food from the ground. To survive, they eat bugs for nitrogen(氮), a kind of element that plants need. They're not monsters(怪物)—they're clever survivors(幸存者).
Sadly, these amazing plants are in danger. Their homes are being destroyed by fire and building houses and roads. It takes one plant 5 years to grow from a seed! Let's protect their homes so they can keep being nature's fastest bug(虫子) hunters.
20. How long does it take for the Venus flytrap to catch an insect?
It takes just 0.05 seconds. /Just 0.05 seconds.

21. What does the inside of the Venus flytrap's trap look like?
It is bright red, like a juicy fruit or a colourful sign.

22. Why do Venus flytraps eat bugs?
To survive, they eat bugs for nitrogen, a kind of element that plants need. /To survive.

23. What can we do to help protect Venus flytraps?
We can protect their natural homes, stop destroying wetlands, and plant more seeds.(主观题,言之有理即可)

24. 将短文中画线部分翻译成中文。
每片叶子一生中只能捉到3或4只虫子,之后便会枯死,所以每一次捕捉都很重要!
