Meet William Shakespeare
Who Was Shakespeare?
· Lived long ago (1564-1616).
· Wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets(十四行诗).
· First used over 1,700 English words!
· His work is still very important today.
His plays can be hard to read sometimes. This is because English was very different 400 years ago.
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has a programme. It is called “First Encounters”. This programme changes Shakespeare’s plays. It makes the plays easier for young people to understand.
The next “First Encounters” play is The Tempest.
