Murphy is a male bald eagle in a bird sanctuary (保护区) in the USA. He always guards (守护) a stone carefully, as if it really were an egg. Visitors feel confused (困惑的) about that. Then the keepers put up a sign to explain (解释), “He is not hurt, sick or sad. He is just incubating (孵化) a stone!”
If other eagles come near his “stone baby”, Murphy will even shout and drive them away. For safety, the keepers have to let him live in a separate enclosure (独立的围场).
Male eagles love to look after babies. So Murphy's love is normal. Later, a young eagle lost its home in a strong wind. It needed a foster (代养的) dad. The keepers gave it to Murphy. Soon, he learned to feed it. How warm!
