A wonderful winter festival takes place in China every year. It is the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival. It opens on January 5.
Harbin is a city in the north of China. Winters there are very cold and snowy. Harbin has some old Russian buildings (俄罗斯建筑). So some people also call it “Eastern Moscow”.
During the festival, people make great ice and snow sculptures (雕塑品). You can see ice castles (城堡), animals, and even slides (滑梯)! Many visitors come to see this “ice world” every year. It is so much fun!
This festival started many years ago.
Now, it is one of the biggest (最大的) winter celebrations (庆典) in the world.
