In 1970, China sent its first man-made Earth satellite into space. It was a big moment as China became the fifth country to do this on its own. In 1992, China started its manned spaceflight programme. After lots of hard work, in 2003, Shenzhou-5, a spaceship with a person inside, flew into space. China then became the third country to have a manned spaceflight, after the Soviet Union and the US. Astronaut Yang Liwei was in space for over 21 hours, going around Earth 14 circles. In 2021, astronauts Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo of Shenzhou-12 went into Tianhe Core Module. It was the first time Chinese astronauts entered our own space station.
