Relationships with your siblings(兄弟姐妹)can help you practice social skills. Having a good relationship with them can help you communicate with other people, and understand other people's feelings. You can even learn things when you don't get on with your siblings. When you have arguments(争吵)with them, you have to work out how to be in the same space as them. As a result, you often learn how to accept differences. It is very useful in the outside world.
It's completely normal(正常的)that sometimes you and your sibling won't see eye to eye. "Have a good think about why the two of you don't get on. Try to talk when you both cool down," says Dr. Owen, a researcher in how children develop. "Tell them how you feel. You could say, 'It really hurts me when you make jokes about me.' If the trouble carries on, talk to a trusted adult(成年人)."
All families are different. What if you don't have siblings? That doesn't mean you won't experience the advantages people get from having a brother or sister. There are ways to help only children develop these skills too.

根据第一段中“Relationships with your siblings can help you practice social skills.” 故选 A。
根据“Have a good think about why the two of you don’t get on.”
根据最后一段中“There are ways to help only children develop these skills too.”

①Have you ever made New Year’s resolutions before? According to a survey, 27% of the teenagers set themselves one or more New Year’s resolutions at the start of the year, especially in January. Is January the right time to set New Year’s resolutions? (1)
②Some think January is a better time because it’s a fun tradition to discuss New Year’s resolutions with their family and friends at the start of the year. If you all set (A) them at different times, you won’t have the same topic (话题) with others. (2) Besides, the more you put it off, the less possible it is that you’ll decide what you really want to do. By the time you’ve decided, you’ll have less time to achieve your goals.
③However, others have different ideas. They think January is always a cold and dark month when teenagers just want to stay indoors. (3) What’s more, they should make resolutions any time they want. If they wait a bit longer, they’ll have a better idea of what they want to do. One study showed that by the end of January, 20% of the teenagers had failed to stick to their resolutions. So if they are given more time, they won’t get discouraged or give up.
④All in all, whether you make resolutions in
January or later, please remember they help to make you a better person and to make your life easier. So just be brave to make and keep them!

5. 特色考法 信息还原题 在文中(1)(2)(3)处,选出能够填入“Should teenagers wait a little longer before deciding what they want?”

Which is the right structure of this passage?
B
(①=Paragraph 1 ②=Paragraph 2...)
A. B. C.
What is the writer’s attitude (态度) towards the topic?
C

A. Uninterested.
B. Worried.
C. Unsure.
Do you think January is the right time for New Year’s resolutions? Why or Why not? (Please write in your own words.)
Yes, I do. Because they are called New Year’s resolutions, not Half-Year resolutions.

/No, I don’t. Because I will have more time to decide what I want to do.

答案

4.New Year’s resolutions 根据“...it’s a fun tradition to discuss New Year’s resolutions...If you all set them at different times...”
7.C 根据“whether you make resolutions in January or later...and to make your life easier”可知,作者并没有明确自己是支持还是反对这个观点。
8. Yes, I do. Because they are called New Year’s resolutions, not Half-Year resolutions./Because I will have more time to achieve my goals./Because I will have the same topic with my friends and family./No, I don’t. Because I will have more time to decide what I want to do./Because I have more time, and I won’t give up.
