Ma's army fought the Japanese near the Shitai Railway. They had very few guns. But Ma and his fellow soldiers fought bravely. Once, enemy shells hit Ma. He lost the sight视力 in one eye. Looking back on those days, Ma said, "Never bow to the enemy. If you don't fight him, he'll fight you."
In 1944, Ma led a special team. They fought to take down the Japanese stronghold in Liangdu. Ma in this battle战斗. He got a Japanese gun枪 and a pair of binoculars望远镜 as war prizes. Ma kept these things for many years. He fought in many important battles. He got hurt in a battle. Later, he left the army and got a regular job.
This year is the 80th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. To remember this important time, Ma gave his dear binoculars to the Shanxi Museum. He had long wanted to help keep history alive. Then he made that wish come true. Ma hopes young people will remember the past. He also hopes they will work for a rich and strong China. Ma's life story also tells people that peace is always important.
