The rooster is the national bird of France. It stands for bravery and dignity(自豪). A long time ago, people in France made a weathervane that looked like a rooster. They put it on the top of Notre Dame Cathedral. The rooster could spin(旋转) around and show which way the wind was blowing. It was high up, so everyone could see it and know what the weather was like.
After the fire, the old rooster was sent to a museum. Now, a new rooster sits in its place. It looks like a phoenix(凤凰) with gold feathers. In some stories, the phoenix can come back to life from fire. We wish the building could do the same.
