About 5,000 years ago, one form of "money" was animals. People could exchange animals for other things.
About 4,000 years ago, people found shells. They were hard, beautiful, and easy to carry. Later, coins were used to buy things. Different coins had different sizes and colours. We still use coins today.
In the Song Dynasty, the first paper money—Jiaozi(交子)—appeared. People loved it because it was light.
Now, we have something new—online payment. We don't need to carry money with us. We just use our smartphones. With a tap, we can buy anything, anytime and anywhere. Life is convenient today.
From animals to shells, from coins to paper money, and now to smartphones—money keeps changing. And with it, our life changes too.
