文化 知识 上巳节 「2026江西南昌十中教育集团月考」
Every year, the Shangsi Festival takes place in the lovely land of Guangxi. During this time, the air is full of music and laughter as people celebrate with songs and dances. Among all the fun, the bamboo pole dance(竹竿舞) steals the show, making everyone want to join in.
It’s said that the bamboo pole dance began with the Zhuang people. Long ago, people used the poles to help young rice plants grow well on farms. Later, they turned this idea into a wonderful dance to show their culture and celebrate their work and spirit.
Last April, I was so excited to see the bamboo pole dance for the first time when I visited Fubo Hill in Guilin, Guangxi, on a package tour(跟团游). Many people danced around a big tree, and the sound of bamboo poles hitting together filled the air, creating a joyful beat. While watching the dancers, I noticed how they moved gracefully between the bamboo poles. They jumped in time with the music and danced beautifully. Sometimes, someone’s feet got caught, but they laughed and kept going. They thought it was fun.
When I joined in the dance, I was very happy. It wasn’t as easy as it looked, but everyone cheered me on. Ms. Li, a woman from Chongqing, told me to be patient while trying the dance. “It looks easy, but it takes practice!” she said. “Believe in yourself and go for it!” Guess what? She couldn’t be more right. I kept trying and finally did it.
By the end of the day, I learned a lot about this beautiful dance and the culture behind it. As I left, I promised myself that I would return the next year and bring my family to enjoy the fun of the bamboo pole dance at the Shangsi Festival. It was a day to remember!
