n July 18, a cultural event took place at
Shanghai Datong High School. It was part
of the 19th Shanghai International Youth
Interactive Friendship Camp. The camp started on July 16
and ended on July 25.
125 teenagers from 20

countries came together to
share their nations' special
traditions. The teenagers
showed traditional artifacts at their country
booths. They sang, danced and gave talks to share
their cultures. They got dressed in colorful traditional
clothes. They were happy to tell others about their
cultures.
Some Chinese students from host families also
participated. They shared laughter and delicious food
with the international campers. Everyone felt close to one
another and friendly.
"It's so amazing," said Australian camper Ashton
Bedoya. "We're in Shanghai, halfway across the world
from where we are, but then we've got 20 countries that
are all here together. I feel like it's a special experience."
The organizer said the event is important
for the camp. *It gives young people a chance to learn
from each other so that they can understand different
cultures better.
In the next few days, to get more exchange
experience, they would visit more Chinese cities, taste
traditional foods and take part in different kinds of
cultural activities.
