I think the most important way to connect with others is to listen. Perhaps, the most important thing we give each other is our attention(关注). When people are talking, there
is no need to do anything but receive them and listen to what they are saying. In most cases, listening is more important than understanding.
It takes me a long time to believe in the power of simple saying "I'm sorry." One of my patients(病人) told me that when she tried to tell her story, people often broke her off. When they cried, they found me there with them. I used to think that people were very great if they were willing to listen only even if they did not know the answer. But now I know.
