To welcome the Spring Festival, Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou put up a huge "Awakening Lion" lantern. It's 20 metres tall. It stands at the main gate! When the power (电) is on, its big eyes can blink (眨眼).
But one day, the power went out. The lion's eyelids drooped down (耷拉). The workers didn't find the problem in time. So, the lion looked half-asleep, just like a ▲ office worker!
Soon, visitors saw it and posted its photos on the Internet. The "sleeping lion" became popular quickly. Many people thought it was very fun.
Later, the workers adjusted (调整) the lion's eyes to an open position. *They also posted a funny "work pledge (保证)" in the name of the "sleeping lion". It said, "I took a nap (打个盹) at work today and got caught! Now I open my eyes wide and work hard again."
